Conversation with Clifton Truman Daniel
Brilliant Lecture Series is honored to join the growing community of organizations and individuals planning events this year to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War II - August 14, 1945.
On August 18th Brilliant Lecture Series will present a Conversation with Mr. Clifton Truman Daniel - grandson of President Harry S. Truman and his wife, Bess; son of author Margaret Truman and former New York Times Managing Editor E. Clifton Daniel, Jr. Mr. Daniel will share his unique perspective and insight into the life and personalities of President Truman and his wife Bess during the formative years of his political life; his life's journey and the active role he is taking to promote reconciliation between the United States and Japan. Mr. Daniel is honorary chairman of the board of the Truman Library Institute, nonprofit partner of the Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, MO. Clifton Truman Daniel is the author of Growing Up With My Grandfather: Memories of Harry S. Truman and Dear Harry, Love Bess: Bess Truman's Letters to Harry Truman, 1919-1943. He is currently working on a book on the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Mr. Daniel was recently hosted in Japan by the peace group Sadako Legacy.
Event will be held Tuesday, August 18th 5:30-7:00pm at Asia Society Texas Center located at 1370 Southmore Blvd. Houston, TX 77004. All tickets $55.00 per person includes wine reception, a conversation with Mr. Daniel in a moderated Q&A format and autographed copy of Dear Harry, Love Bess: Bess Truman's Letters to Harry Truman, 1919-1943.
Brilliant Lecture Series is a non-profit organization known for presenting programs that educate, inspire and entertain audiences from every walk of life. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, BRILLIANT delivers interactive audience experiences featuring regional, national and international leaders, role models, philanthropists, humanitarians, entertainers and artists. Launched with a lecture by Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan in 2005 attended by some 2,000 people, including students from partnering schools and non-profit organizations, additional speakers include Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Dame Julie Andrews, Lauren Bacall, Diana Ross, President Mikhail Gorbachev, Betty White, Dr. Maya Angelou, George Clooney and performances the Texas Tenors, Shaping Sound and international acclaimed Potted Potter.
