Inpop Records' pop/rock band Newsboys will perform at the Pentagon's sixth annual memorial service to be held in the Pentagon Auditorium on Sept. 11, 2007. The event will honor those who gave their lives at the Pentagon and elsewhere on 9/11.
The multi-faith service will include members of the armed forces as well as government employees and their families. Additionally, the band will be hosting a concert immediately following for all employees.
"The events of 9/11 touched us all," says Peter Furler, lead vocalist of Newsboys, "and the willing sacrifices of the men and women of our Armed Forces to defend the United States is truly awe-inspiring. We are honored and humbled to have been asked to be a part of the memorial service at the Pentagon this year, and we hope our music and message will be an inspiration to all those who attend."
"Newsboys' music is incredible and reaches across the lines to so many different people," comments Chaplain (Maj.) Alan Pomaville of the Pentagon Chaplain's Office. "I believe that many people will be blessed as a result of hearing their music."
With five gold albums, sales exceeding six million units, more than 20 No.1 radio hits, and a mantle of Dove Awards as well as Grammy nominations, the band has achieved phenomenal success in its near two decades together. Known for amazing live performances and groundbreaking tours, the band continues to sellout festivals and concerts worldwide, satisfying diehard fans and winning new ones in the process.
