As their self-titled debut hits nationwide this week, Connersvine, the duo made up of the punter for the Indianapolis Colts’ Hunter Smith, and songwriter Chris Wilson is receiving support and accolades from the likes of the Colt’s head coach, media, hometown radio/TV outlets, and more.
"I have really enjoyed listening to Connersvine's debut CD,” remarked Indianapolis Colt’s Head Coach Tony Dungy. “ It is great music from some very talented musicians. But even more than the music, I appreciate the heartfelt words of the songs. Very thought provoking and very much pointing the listener to Christ."
CMCentral.com stated, “Connersvine busted up my misconceptions in a big way with this creative, delightful debut,” and Aspiring Retail also commented, “Smith and Chris Wilson, both grounded in years of young adult ministry, deliver a signature stamp of worship for today’s church.”
In addition, Connersvine hosted The Gospel Music Channel’s Front Row Live program, recently airing over two back-to-back weekends, and have made several local Indianapolis appearances, including the local NBC and FOX affiliate morning shows, Pop station WZPL’s Dave Smiley Morning Show, and each Monday morning are talking with Christian radio personalities across the country from 6-9am in support of their new single, “Live For You”.
Also in Indianapolis, Connersvine will be doing a free record release party at 7pm tonight at Traders Point Christian Church. Later in the week the duo will hit the River Landing Indy Borders (Wednesday, 7pm) and Berean Christian store (Friday, 6pm) for live acoustic sets and signing events.
In the summer of 2001, Smith and Wilson began their friendship by leading music together for a young adult ministry on the south side of Indianapolis – this grew into a songwriting relationship, and then they found people asking them to come and play all over the city. Thus began Connersvine. Born and raised in Sherman, Texas, Hunter Smith has had a passion for music as well as a talent in football. Smith graduated from Notre Dame and went on to be drafted in the NFL by the Indianapolis Colts, and just started his ninth season as their punter in addition to the holder for kicker Adam Vinatieri. Raised with a great appreciation for music, Chris Wilson began playing guitar at the age of ten and was helping on the worship team at his local church by the time he was in middle school. Through his passion, Wilson has continued to develop his skills as a musician, songwriter, artist and worship leader.
