After a successful debut in 2007 (Secondhand Dreaming) and extensive touring with Switchfoot and Relient K (2007 "Appetite for Construction Tour with Habitat for Humanity") as well as Emery, Ruth is proud to return with their sophomore release today.
Titled after the British slang definition of an obsessive enthusiast, Anorak is a reference to a person who has an unfathomable interest in something and feels compelled to talk at length about it. Written primarily at rest stops and hotels, Anorak captures the emotions and experiences of watching dreams come true and others fall beyond reach. Anorak is at once challenging and yet simple to understand, recalling the best of '80s radio, '90's English pop and contemporary indie without sounding derivative of any particular genre. Ruth is currently on tour with Decemberadio, dates can be found on their MySpace.
Here are some early reviews:
"The consistency in which they are able to deliver solid, heartfelt rock easily makes them one of the best acts on Tooth and Nail Records' star-studded roster." --JesusFreakHideout.com
"The beauty is in the details and the ability to keep getting more and more out of the seemingly simplistic tracks. The hooks are done in such as way that they don't get tired, but end up carrying more weight after time. "Back To The Five" is one of the first songs I fell in love with and one that I keep going back to over and over again." --Thealbumproject.net
"Their debut, Secondhand Dreaming, placed Ruth on the map. It's Anorak, however, that will blow you away. The sophomore offering of the Tooth & Nail pop/rock act not only avoids the proverbial slump but elevates the Washington act to impressive levels that evoke comparisons to early Switchfoot." --Soul-Audio.com
"Anyone avidly looking for a great record of pop/rock tunes should look no further than Anorak. The record is a very consistent and stable piece of work, that comes with a great personal message." --Musicfaith.com
