Husband/wife duo Watermark recently completed
the recording of its third album, Constant, a melody and lyric-driven
project produced by the group's own Nathan Nockels. The album is the highly
anticipated follow-up to All Things New, which landed two No. 1 and two top
5 songs on Christian radio charts. Constant's first single, the title cut,
is slated for adds on all formats Feb. 22.
"God is constant, and He has been pursuing each of us all the days of our
lives even before we were born," says Watermark's lead vocalist and primary
songwriter Christy Nockels. "His heart is for His people to be constant
after Him and to be running after Him. Life is losing ourselves in that
pursuit... The songs on Constant come out of our lives, out of who we are
and what God has called us to do. We wanted this record to communicate that
we're here to stay, that we know writing and recording songs is what we're
supposed to be doing."
Watermark's first two albums have achieved sales in excess of 300,000 units,
and included hit songs such as "Gloria," "More Than You'll Ever Know" and
"Where to Find Me." A Soul2Soul radio special is scheduled to air May 3-5,
the weekend after Constant's release.
Rocketown President Don Donahue said, "Constant is a great title for the
third Watermark record because it's what Nathan and Christy have been for
Rocketown. I believe the songs, melodies and lyrics on this record will
introduce the Nockels to a bigger audience than ever before. I've known for
a long time that Christy is one of our industry's most underrated vocalists,
and Nathan has really come into his own as a producer. I'm excited for the
rest of the industry and the world to hear what Watermark has to say about
God's faithfulness, His constancy, on this record."
Watermark joins Word recording artist Fernando Ortega this spring on his
30-city "Storm" tour. In addition to the group's own 30-minute set, both
Nathan and Christy Nockels will participate in Ortega's band. The couple
spent most of the fall of 2001 touring with various artists, from Michael W.
Smith's "Songs 4 Worship" tour to the Passion tour led by Louie Giglio to
their own headlining tour with opening act Jill Phillips.
Grammy Award-winner Michael W. Smith and former Reunion Records A&R chief
Don Donahue started Rocketown Records in 1996 with the idea of establishing
an independent label where great songs were the focus and the atmosphere
felt like family. Since its launch Rocketown has garnered New Artist of the
Year Dove Award nominations for Chris Rice, Watermark, Shaun Groves and 2000
winner Ginny Owens.
