Bebo Norman Sets Out on Circa 2002 Tour
Source: Essential Records
Date Posted: July 26,2002

Building on the momentum of two prior records (Big Blue Sky and Ten Thousand Days), and a substantial touring history, Bebo Norman sets out this fall in support of Myself When I Am Real, releasing from Essential Records September 10. Slated to hit 42 markets including Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, Chicago and Seattle, the Fall Circa 2002 tour kicks off in Birmingham September 10 and wraps up in the Northwest in mid-December.

Joining Bebo Norman is the David Crowder Band, Ten Shekel Shirt and Essential Records’ Sarah Sadler. The David Crowder Band will open on the first half of the tour dates and Ten Shekel Shirt on the remaining second half of the tour; Sarah Sadler will play all 42 dates.

“We’re all very excited about the Fall Circa 2002 Tour,” comments Micah Ottosen, Bebo Norman’s manager. “Bebo has been touring almost year-round for the last six years. Bebo is in his element when performing live, and I’m excited to see how this record is going to translate on stage.”

Bebo Norman’s following continues to grow steadily, as a result of the success of his critically acclaimed projects, Ten Thousand Days (1999) and Big Blue Sky (2001), the latter ranked No. 1 on Amazon.com’s list of the 10 Best Christian and Gospel CDs of 2001. Norman maintains a loyal fan base nationwide, built by years of consistent touring initially as an independent artist and later after signing to Watershed Records, a division of Essential Records, in 1999. In the first half of 2002 alone Bebo has wrapped a 53- city tour with Third Day, enjoyed his first multi-format Top 10 radio hit (“Holy Is Your Name”), spent the summer performing at festivals around the country and secured the August cover of CCM Magazine.

The David Crowder Band stays extremely busy touring and leading worship music at the University Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, a church predominately made up of college students from the campus of Baylor University. Its unique sound is an eclectic blend of personalities and instrumentation, including guitar and electric violin. David Crowder (lead vocal and acoustic guitar) has been the Music Pastor at UBC since its inception in 1995, while a student at Baylor. The David Crowder Band is also a vital part of Passion Ministries, a nationwide student movement. Its debut album on sixstepsrecords, Can You Hear Us?, was the highest debut record in Sparrow Label Group history.

Ten Shekel Shirt makes music in an effort to create an atmosphere where people feel the safety and freedom to meet with God. Currently based out of New England, the band members met while serving at the Tyler, TX base of Youth With A Mission, an international missions organization. In the past year, Ten Shekel Shirt’s first release, Much, has garnered critical acclaim as well as commercial success. Launching its debut record with a No. 1 radio single, “Ocean,” and ending with a 2001 Dove Award nomination, the band has opened for artists including Caedmon’s Call, Over The Rhine and Delirious. They are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their February 2003 follow-up project, tentatively titled Beauty.

Scheduled to release her self-titled debut on September 10, Sarah Sadler is often compared stylistically to Sarah McLachlan, Amy Grant and Sheryl Crow, with self-penned poetic lyrics and ethereal melodies. Sarah Sadler, not new to Christian music, wrote her first song at the age of 9. Two years later her song, “I Will Pray,” landed on an Integrity Music children’s record. Most recently, Sarah lent her voice to three popular compilation projects The Prayer of Jabez: Music . . . A Worship Experience, Your Love Broke Through: The Worship Songs of Keith Green and Our God Of Wonders. Sarah’s September 10 release was produced by Pete Kipley (Mercy Me, Plus One) and Matt Bronlewee (Jars Of Clay, Rebecca St. James, Natalie Imbruglia). Sarah is the daughter of Christian music songwriter and worship leader Gary Sadler. This is her first national tour.
