Rocketown to Release New Ginny Owens EP
Source: Rocketown Records
Date Posted: September 20,2002

Rocketown Records lights up the fall with a collector’s edition, enhanced EP from Ginny Owens titled Blueprint. The Nov. 19 release, comprised of sophisticated yet intimate new recordings of seven of Owens’ hit songs plus new track “Let Them Hear,” will be price-pointed at $6.98 or can be purchased at a value price with her critically-lauded sophomore album, Something More. The enhanced CD will also include Owens’ first concept video, “With Me,” directed by award-winning filmographers Jimmy Abegg and Ben Pearson. In addition, Owens will be doing a two-week tour in December to support the EP.

“Rocketown Records has always been built on great songs, regardless of genre,” notes label President Don Donahue. “With Blueprint we're giving Ginny Owens’ fans more variety, more stripped-down interpretations of her incredible songwriting. Ginny's live performance is extremely compelling, and these new versions of classic Ginny songs will give the audience of her shows and her CDs something more—and something different—to add to their collection.”

Produced by Dove Award-winning artist Margaret Becker, Blueprint offers the intimacy of a live performance as the EP was recorded in the studio over three days with minimal instrumentation. Songs included are “I Am,” “With Me,” “Something More,” “True Story” and “Run to You” (from Something More) along with “Free” and “I Am Nothing” from Owens’ debut, Without Condition. New song “Let Them Hear” was written expressly for this EP.

The enhanced EP also includes Owens’ first concept video, a stunningly colorful treatment of her current single “With Me.” Shot on location around the world—from Nashville to New York to Venice to London—the “With Me” video promises extended visual exposure to support the single, which entered R&R’s Christian Adult Contemporary airplay chart at No. 27 on Sept. 12. Nashville-based AristoMedia is currently servicing the “With Me” video to more than 100 media outlets as well as securing play on retail and video loops nationwide.

In addition to a fall co-headlining tour with Watermark, Owens will also be doing a 12-market tour this Christmas season with NewSong and Mark Schultz to support the EP.

Grammy Award-winner Michael W. Smith and former Reunion Records A&R chief Don Donahue started Rocketown Records with the goal of building a label around a foundation of great songs. Since its launch in 1996, Rocketown has garnered New Artist of the Year Dove Award nominations for Chris Rice, Watermark, Shaun Groves and 2000 winner Ginny Owens.
