One Christian rock band is doing what is does best in its efforts to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Seventh Day Slumber has cleared their touring schedule for the next couple of months to visit areas in the Southwest where hurricane evacuee camps and shelters have been set up. The Nashville-based four piece band is performing for free for these relocated Gulf Coast residents with the public admitted to the concerts for donations of food, water, relief supplies or cash contributions.

One such area with hundreds of sites is in northeast Louisiana, where thousands of Katrina evacuees have lived in make-shift shelters and campgrounds since fleeing last month from the path of the devastating storm. In the midst of the flourishing cotton fields in the northeastern corner of the state, frontman and founder Joseph Rojas and his Dove Award-nominated band will visit several evacuee sites in their area and also headline a benefit concert billed as "Three Bands for Three Cans or Three Bucks." Admission to the concert is three canned goods (or non-perishable food items) or $3.00, with all food and cash donations going directly to the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana for emergency food assistance for displaced hurricane evacuees in their area. Local contemporary Christian bands "Waiting for Isaac" and "Bliss" are opening acts for the concert scheduled for 6:30pm on Monday, October 20th at First Assembly of God Church, 715 Cypress Street, in West Monroe, LA.

During their stopover in northern Louisiana, Rojas, bassist Joshua Schwartz, guitarist Jeremy Holderfield, and drummer Ray Fryoux will also visit several hundred Katrinas evacuees. including about 80 mentally challenged adults from the New Orleans area, who are still camped out in a state park in Morehouse Parish. The band will treat these temporarily relocated families and individuals to a private concert, followed by a time of fellowship and prayer.

For more info on the benefit concert, call 318-680-2609 or visit www.glory2gloryproductions.com. Also if you would like to help defray some of the costs of the hurricane relief tour, mail checks to Seventh Day Slumber, PO Box 1710, Topanga, CA 90290 or to go www.seventhdayslumber.com to make donations by credit card.
