Girlfriends in God (GiG) is a conference and devotional ministry that crosses generational,  denominational and racial boundaries to bring women in the body of Christ together for mutual edification and support. The GiG team of Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland is committed to helping women grow deeper in their relationships with each other and the Lord. Their on-line devotions at www.girlfriendsingod.com currently minister to more than 500,000 women daily, showing how the Word of God and the power of God’s grace, through Jesus Christ, rejuvenates faith and enriches lives.   Just as God sent Ruth to Naomi and Mary to Elizabeth, God continues to use women to encourage and equip each other in their spiritual journey.  Sharon, Gwen, and Mary are co-authors of Trusting God and Knowing God by Name.

Sharon Jaynes www.sharonjaynes.com has been encouraging and equipping women through ministry for over twenty-five years. From the time she met Christ as a teenager, she fell in love with God’s Word and has had a passion to bring God’s truth to today’s woman.  Through the years, she has taught many Bible Studies and mentored women from all walks of life. Her mission is to encourage, equip and empower women to walk in courage and confidence as they grasp their true identity as a child of God and a co-heir with Christ.

For ten years Sharon served as Vice President of Proverbs 31 Ministries and as co-host for their daily radio feature. She is the author of seventeen books, including  I’m Not Good Enough and Other Lies Women Tell Themselves, A Sudden Glory and the newly released Praying for your Husband from Head to Toe. She has written numerous magazine articles and devotions for publications such as Focus on the Family, Extraordinary Women, Decision, Crosswalk.com and In Touch.  She has been a contributing author in books such as Chicken Soup for the Sports Fan’s Soul, Stories for the Teen’s Heart, Stories for the Man’s Heart, and the Women’s Devotional Bible. Her books have been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Korean.

Sharon has been a frequent guest on radio and television programs such as Revive Our Hearts with Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Focus on the Family, and Living the Life with the 700 Club. She and her husband, Steve, have one grown son and make their home in
North Carolina.

Gwen Smith www.gwensmith.net is a speaker, author, concert artist, songwriter and worship leader who inspires women toward the heart of God through stories, songs, and Scripture.  Her fun, enthusiastic and relatable communication style puts audiences at ease regardless of their walk in life. She is the author of a book titled Broken into Beautiful which shares the same title as a heart-stirring song that she co-wrote and recorded.  Both courageously share her story of abortion, heartbreak, and healing.
She has shared her stories and songs on television programs such as LIFE Today, the 700 Club, The Harvest Show,  Atlanta Live and many radio programs as well.  She is a recording artist with Consuming Worship and has been a label artist for Great Worship Songs and a staff songwriter for both the Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing and Sunday Best Music. Her five CD projects gently encourage listeners into a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Gwen and her husband, Brad, reside in North Carolina and have been blessed with three cool kids. Those who know her best would tell you that Gwen is just a car-pooling, coffee-drinking, chocolate-craving, Jesus-loving wife and mother who struggles like the rest of us with dirty dishes, car-pooling, mountains of laundry, complicated relationships and cellulite.

Mary Southerland www.marysoutherland.com is nicknamed The Stress-Buster and is a specialist at helping women manage stress and enjoy peace in their daily lives.  She is a dynamic communicator, delivering a powerful message that changes lives. She will make you laugh, cry, and walk away thirsting for more!    Through warmth, humor, transparency and solid biblical teaching, Mary leads women to discover the powerful truth of God’s word and motivates them to apply it in their daily lives.  

Women identify with Mary because she has survived the road of clinical depression, infertility, adoption, full-time ministry, and the daily stresses of life. Through God’s power, she has emerged with joy, strength, and victory.   Her heart’s desire is to encourage and support women to face the storms of life with courage, turning past failures into future successes, and motivating them to serve by helping others. Mary’s books include Hope in the Midst of Depression, Sandpaper People, Escaping the Stress Trap, and Experiencing God’s Power in Your Ministry. She has written numerous articles for ParentLife, Proverbs 31 Woman, and Tool Box, found on Pastors.com. She and her husband, Dan, a pastor in their church in Kansas, are blessed with two children and
three grandchildren.
