They are professional actors who are married (to each other) and have two incredible kids. They have toured nationally since 1992 and continue to write all their own material.

VIP Experience Guest Speakers: Dr. David and Terri Sumlin
The Sumlins are co-founders of Marriage Life Ministries and authors of the Marriage Innovators Workshop®, Intimacy of Marriage®, and Oneness of Marriage® series designed to help couples enrich their marriages through the application of biblical principles and adventure-based learning. They both have served over the last 15 years as international marriage educators, retreat leaders, pastoral counselors, and conference speakers.

David and Terri’s unique approach to marital enrichment is built upon some of the advances found in neuroscience, psychology, physiology, and adventure-based therapy, which were then tested through the lens of God’s word for validation. The result is an Adventure-Based Marital Enrichment model that helps couples derive positive behavioral transformation and increased levels of sustained learning.

David is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary for which he earned his M.A. and Doctorate in Marriage and Family Ministry. David pastored a church in Houston, Texas before founding Marriage Life Ministries. Terri is a graduate of the University of North Texas and served a 23-year teaching career before joining David as a full-time marriage educator. David and Terri will celebrate 29 years of marriage this year, have two adult children, and currently reside in Houston, Texas.

The 2019 Grand Hotel Room Rate for Celebrate with Jay & Laura is $145 plus taxes per person daily based on double occupancy. 19.5% hotel added charge and Michigan 6% Sales Tax applies to all charges. There is also a 2% Mackinac Island Assessment charge on the per person daily room. There is a one-time charge of $8.50 per person for transfer of luggage from the dock to the Hotel and return. A deposit of $150.00 per reservation is required in order to hold your room.

Grand Hotel operates on the Modified American Plan. This means that your daily rate includes breakfast and dinner. The Grand Luncheon Buffet is also included in the rate for day two of the conference only. You will reserve your room directly with Grand Hotel with a special form by email, fax or postal mail after you register for the event. A link to the room reservation form will be included on your confirmation email.

Please note: Grand Hotel charges an admission fee of $10/person unless you are a registered guest of the Hotel. In addition, only registered guests of the hotel will receive the Grand Luncheon Buffet as part of Celebrate Your Marriage. All attendees staying off-site must pay for the Grand Luncheon Buffett, which costs approximately $50 per person.
