We are called to be a light in the darkness and for many of us that darkness has felt overwhelming. Life has taken its toll and we wonder if light will ever be able to shine through. We look for light in so many places: our families, our jobs, our friendships, even within ourselves, only to be let down and dismayed that we have not found the hope we were longing for.

But, in Matthew 5, we hear of this light- a light we carry within ourselves as image-bearers of the Creator, a light that shines brightly for all the world to see. We are being called to behold and own what already lives inside us.

Now more than ever when so many are looking to find their way– when hopes and dreams have been shattered by a cruel and broken world, and even when our own stories bear this brokenness– we are invited to shine bright, to show the world that no matter what our stories hold, there is hope and truth and freedom for those who seek the glory and goodness of our Father in heaven.

We are no longer called to be bound by darkness or to let the light we bear linger in the shadows. We are the ambassadors of hope, the dispellers of shame, the light in the darkness, and through the power of God within us, we are called to OWN THE LIGHT.
