Live from the Temple - Fundraiser for the Temple Theatre Restoration Initiative

The Temple Theatre for the Performing Arts in Meridian, Mississippi, is a historic theatre and auditorium which has served as the center of cultural activities in the region and a talent generator for musicians for decades. The Temple Theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, but is currently on the Top 10 Most Endangered Historical Buildings in the United States due to its need for extensive restoration. 

Temple Theatre President Roger Smith is dedicated to bringing the Temple back to its former splendor and has applied for many grants to assist with restoration costs.  Ken Rainey—who has produced over 2,000 shows at the Temple Theatre, including Jamey Johnson, Alison Krauss, Todd Tilghman, Track 45, Randy Houser, Marty Stuart, and many more—is also committed to seeing the Temple Theatre restored to its former glory so future generations can experience the historical ambiance of the establishment. In an effort to raise the funds necessary to facilitate the restoration of the Temple Theatre, the “Temple Theatre Restoration Initiative” has been established. 

On Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 2:00pm, SuperTalk Mississippi Meridian, Roger Smith, and Ken Rainey are collaborating to host an event titled “Live from the Temple!” at the Temple Theatre.  All funds raised from the event will go to the Temple Theatre Restoration Initiative.  The hosts are seeking musicians to donate their time and talents for the event, which will feature Mississippi Musicians performing in the “Grand Ole’ Opry” or Variety Show style format and include all genres of music.  The live event will be recorded and a “Live from the Temple!” album will be sold, with all proceeds being donated to the Temple Theatre Restoration Initiative.
